Exploring the Beaches of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES BEACHES
A friend from Florida came to visit for a week and the first day she was here, I decided to take her to see some of the beaches of Southern California. We visited Neptune's Net for some brunch before headed up into the hills of Malibu to conquer the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains, Sandstone Peak. It was a great hike and the views were amazing.
Next, it was on to El Matador State Beach and a nice walk down the beach. As it was a full moon on Christmas, the tide was really low so it made exploring the caves really easy. One last stop at the Malibu sign for the classic photo.
Of course, what visit to Southern California beaches would be complete without a trip to Venice and Santa Monica. After parking at the world famous Santa Monica Pier, we rented bikes and rode up to the Venice boardwalk to see the sights. After we got back to the pier, we visited Pacific Park and I finally got to ride the ferris wheel (Pacific Wheel). It offered great views and was a great photo opportunity.
