SPLIT | CROATIA

Split, Croatia is the perfect place to spend some time soaking up the sun on a beach. From the mainland to the many islands that surround Split, you can't go wrong with a few beach days in Croatia. That is exactly what we did on the next stop of our most recent European trip. Come along and find out which was our favorite beach.

RADISSON BLU | SPLIT, CROATIA

We chose the beautiful Radisson Blu as our home base for our Split stay. Located just 10 minutes from the old town of Split, it is the perfect place for a relaxing stay. There is a private beach and an incredible pool with ocean views. Additionally, there are three choices of indoor/outdoor restaurants and a full spa. With all of these features you never have to leave the hotel but with the beaches around Split, you have to get out and explore them.

ZLATNI RAT | BRAC, CROATIA

There are more than 1,000 islands in Croatia so we had to get out visit at least one of them. We chose the island of Brac to visit in the Split area because of a place called Zlatni Rat - better known as Golden Horn. From downtown Split, we loaded our car onto a ferry bound for Supetar (notice the spelling - not the same as the Will Ferrell movie). After the short ride, we arrived at the very arid, sparsely populated island of Brac. We traversed the interior of the island to get to the our favorite beach in the Split area - Zlatni Rat.

Zlatni Rat is a beach that juts out into the Adriatic. It is popular with sailors, wind surfers and beach-going tourists alike. In addition to the beautiful turquoise waters, there is a hammock of trees that houses a bunch of food and make the most of your day at the beach. We spend the day lounging and exploring the beach until all of the tourists were gone. It was then time for our day on our favorite Split-area beach to come to an end. We made the drive back across the island just in time to catch the sunset ferry back to Split.

If you want to follow along with our 25-day wedding / honeymoon trip, you can see more of our adventures in Malta, Italy, the Vatican, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro.
