Climbing Mt. Rainier
MT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK | WASHINGTON
I haven't posted a blog update in almost a month and that is solely because I have been so insanely busy - not because I don't have a ton of content. I have a backlog of stuff to post about and will try to get caught up as quickly as possible so stay tuned!
I recently went to Seattle to visit my dad while he was up there for work. I had quite a few adventures planned for the long weekend and the first was to visit Mt. Rainier National Park. This is a mountain that is covered in snow year-round which makes it a spectacular sight in the summer. We got up super early to head up to the park to catch sunrise on the mountain. It was well worth it! I was able to get some shots of a few waterfalls, traipse around mirror lakes and capture the magnificence of the mountain from every angle possible.
Finally, it was time to make our way up to the parking lot and start our hike up the mountain. We decided, not because we are out of shape or it would have been the longest, most technical climb of our lives, to only do the day-hike because we had so many other things to do that weekend. The approximately 7-mile roundtrip hike was perfect and offered views that were to die for. From our highest point, we could see all the way to Oregon and Mt. Hood. Also at the top, we encountered snow and ice and a long line of hikers setting out with their groups for a 3-day roundtrip hike to the summit.
I am very happy that last winter I picked up a National Park Annual Pass! It has really paid for itself this year as I have traveled to half a dozen parks. The year is still young and hopefully I can put it to use some more. I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you have any questions about the trip, please feel free to message or comment below.
