SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

A coworker introduced me to the group called American Adventurists and I joined them on their latest outing, the SoCal Desert Rendezvous. The group members long for a life of living out of their offroad vehicles and traveling the world. This event took place east of San Diego, near the Salton Sea and Ocotillo Wells, at Anza Borrego State Park.

I had never been to Anza Borrego so I was up for a little adventure. While there, I took a run down Fish Creek, exploring some of the canyons, including Sandstone Canyon. Sandstone Canyon is amazing as it turns into a slot canyon as it narrows. Recently, there has been a rock fall that makes getting there difficult but was ultimately no match for the Jeep.

On the way back to Los Angeles, I stopped at Ocotillo Wells to check out some rock formations called the Pumpkin Patch. The ride out took me through some crazy landscapes that reminded me of the Badlands at Death Valley.

I was able to take some photos of the Jeep and even some night photography as it is quite a ways from major light pollution.
